My Why: From Burnout to Breakthrough

Like you Im a working mum of three children, running my own purpose-driven business, I know first hand what it means to pour from an empty cup. Before Calm Together, I was holding down a demanding role in a helping profession, giving everything to others while neglecting my own wellbeing. I experienced burnout and disconnection that left me emotionally and physically depleted.

That experience became the catalyst for change. I created Calm Together ltd and Her Harmony because I believe that those who care for others deserve care themselves. This program is built on the tools, insights, and practices that helped me recover, reconnect with my purpose, and rebuild my energy and community so I could thrive again, both personally and professionally.

I’m Arlette, a UKCP-registered Specialist Systemic Psychotherapist and Founder of Calm Together Ltd. With over 20 years of experience in trauma-informed therapy, education, and community development, I’ve worked across the NHS, non-profits, and grassroots initiatives supporting vulnerable groups including asylum seekers, children in care, and families & professionals.

My background includes:

  • MSc in Systemic Family Psychotherapy (University of Leeds)
  • PgCert in Systemic Therapy (Northumbria University)
  • BSc in Psychology & Criminology (Teesside University)
  • Lecturer in Counselling, New College Durham
  • Psychological Therapist at Freedom from Torture
  • Early Action Lead at Changing Futures North East

I bring lived experience, clinical expertise, and a deep commitment to healing systems, not just individuals.
